Numerous researchers and scientists have interpreted the digital divide and proposed a conceptual model to evaluate it. Depending on the time and place of the research and the study groups, each of the models can be used to study the existing gap. The most famous of these are the VanDijk and VanDerson models, who have updated the model over the years and considered the digital divide to be related to the four elements of motivational access, material access, Internet skills access, and diversity of usage. Then there is Selvin Model who assessed the digital divide by examining social, economic, and cultural capital.
The Massimo Ragnedda model, based on MaxWeber's approach, defined a wall between technology users and those far from technology. And a Chinese group model called the Integrated Model, developed by ZhenjiaFan et al.., Which used digital inequalities to achieve e-learning and inclusion. Examining the gap is important because to solve the existing gap, we must be aware of its extent and type so that we can take steps to close it. In this article, we tried to first explain the mentioned models and compare them, and then to define a new model to study the digital divide in traditional businesses in Iran based on the Vandijk and Selvin models.
